I'm thinking of buying still or digital cameras. What should I buy? I'm taking mostly snapshots for the family. My budget is around $400

What's the difference between Blu-ray and HD DVD?

This is all very confusing to me. My old DVD player is just about busted now, it can hardly play movies without freezing, and I'm in the market for a new player. Would Buy-Ray or HD DVD play my old DVD's as well?
